From days of old...the Spear was my first ship also. I was on board when the women first checked onboard. As in most shipmates, most of us had nicknames. When Patty mentioned her nickname...memories of Andrea flooded home. She would spend time up in our shop. I remember her as a hard worker with a great sense of humor. It does break my heart to find that a shipmate has passed. You know someone was special when they can stay in your memory for so many years. Please know that she is in my prayers. She was a great young lady that always talked about her parents. Especially her father and how proud she was of him. She was fun loving and really enjoyed life. I was a storekeeper that worked with her loading and unloading supplies. We also, stood several watches togather. It was a pleasure knowing her.
