This site is meant to be a source of information for
those who served aboard the
USS L. Y. Spear and their families. We
feel it is very important to have as much input from those who were
involved with the ship and to have that information posted on this site.
If you have any information about the Spear or her crew, or
would like to submit photos or other memorabilia, please contact the
webmaster.
We will post all pertinent
information as soon as possible.
This site is still under construction so please check
back often as new items are added. Some of the links on the right
are "active" so feel free to look around at what we have so far.

2010
Reunion
Mark your calendars! The next reunion
for the USS L. Y. SPEAR will be held October 14-17, 2010, at the Hilton
Norfolk Airport in Norfolk, Virginia!
***REUNION REGISTRATION PACKETS ARE NOW
AVAILABLE!***
This year, the Norfolk reunion will be
administered by Military Locator & Reunion Service, Inc. (ML & RS,
Inc.). If you have not received your reunion package in the mail from ML & RS, Inc., please contact
pattykelso@usslyspear.org
to ensure we have your correct mailing address. You may also see
the introductory letter, complete the online questionnaire, and
download/print the reunion registration package by going to our
dedicated 2010 reunion page at
http://www.mlrsinc.com/lyspear/index.htm.

Status of the SPEAR
On Friday, July 9, 2010,
the USS L. Y. SPEAR was awarded to
Esco
Marine, Inc. Ship Recycling Facility. We anticipate the
SPEAR's movement from Norfolk Naval Shipyard to Brownsville, Texas, to
take place in the next couple of weeks, and will post updates here as
they become available. As of July 16th, her
status on the Naval Vessel Register (NVR)
remains "Stricken, to be disposed of." |

Saturday evenings from 9:00 p.m.-12:00 a.m. EST / 6:00-9:00 p.m. on the
